Thanks for the welcome! I had all the traditional treatments (including surgery and 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments) but now am wondering if alternative treatments would have been a better way to go. At least as far as the radiation is concerned. There are definitely aftereffects of the radiation that have me concerned, and it was certainly a huge imposition on my life at the time.

After reading several books on the subject, I find that there is an unbelievably large disparity in what doctors believe should be done concerning this early stage. I took a lot of the responsibility into my own hands by changing my lifestyle. Since being overweight is a factor, I lost weight and began a walking program, and taking herbal supplements. I'm quite interested in anyone else's success or failure with these changes. Also, there are theories out there that not getting enough sleep or at least the correct kind of sleep contributes to the development of cancer. Sad I take the lowest dose of melatonin (so I won't disrupt my body's delicate chemical balance) to help my sleep, and it does seem to have helped.

Anyone else have any further suggestions?

Did you have chemo?(sp) If so, what were the side effects? You hear of loss of hair as a standard one, did that happen to you?

Didn't have chemo, only radiation (after lumpectomy) since the malignancy was still contained in the duct. The radiation wasn't too bad, didn't make me sick but had some burns and depression which passed. The main problem was it had to be taken every day for six weeks, so I was REALLY glad when it was over Wink . Then I joined a weight loss clinic and lost my excess weight, so it was a good incentive I guess. I feel great right now Exclamation
